Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is so beloved in Malaysia that even his lookalike is a huge draw at the IIFA weekend which just kicked off in Kuala Lumpur.
Here’s not-SRK arriving to cheers from the crowd.
Shah Rukh Khan is a huge star in Malaysia, where Bollywood films regularly play to packed theatres. He’s taken his concert tour, titled Temptation, to the country and has received the honorific ‘Datuk’ as part of the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka, an honour from the state of Malacca, for promoting tourism (SRK’s film One 2 Ka 4 was shot there).
SRK, who’s film Don was also famously shot in Kuala Lumpur, received Malaysia’s BrandLaureate Award in 2012.
IIFA, a three-day long extravganza that will conclude with awards night on Sunday, has been officially declared open by Arjun Kapoor, who will co-host the award show with Ranveer Singh; his uncle Anil, whose film Dil Dhadakne Do will be screened as part of the weekend’s events; and actresses Sonakshi Sinha and Bipasha Basu.
